Everyday Im shufflin' ....well not quite

its been 3 weeks. Havent had time to update my blog because I was busy at the Niners game these past two sundays. This week the Niners were on the road in Cincy, but they won tho.

Ill start off this edition of shuffle 5 with.

Joe - Love Dont Make No Sense

My iPod is full of Rnb. Joe's All that I am album was my joint back in the late 90's. I played that tape so much that you couldnt read the songs on the tape.

Afro-rican - Give it all you got

This song brings me back to my bboy days. Probably the first song that i heard with the term "doggystyle". Four, tres, two, uno!

William Bell - I Forgot To Be Your Lover

Song sampled many times in the hip hop game. Most notably for Worst come to Worst by Dilated Peoples

The Fugees - Ready or Not

Enya Sample. Five Mic album from the Fugees. I remember when I loved in Queens in 96. This album was the biggest thing out. Happy that I experienced NYC life during the golden-age of hip hop.

Too Short - I Want To Be Free

Old School Oakland mob shit. Too Short will always be a legend in the game. Old school funk samples on this one. Check out the Too Short documentary. Its pretty dope.

Labor day weekend edition

Labor Day shuffle

Dave Hollister - One Woman Man

Good story telling by former Blackstreet lead.

Frankie Avalon - Venus

Old school track by Philly legend F. Avalon. Melanie Fiona sample on "You Stop My Heart"

Musiq Soulchild - Buddy

Musiq flipped De la's track with this one.

Midnight Star - No Parking on the Dancefloor

I remember this song mostly as the sample for "Gold Diggin Hoes".

Turf Talk - Bundle Bush

This got that Vallejo mob bounce to it. Turf talk was better when he wasnt yelling as much.

Records from my archives #Random

The Good Girls - Your Sweetness

Old School track from the New Jack Swing Era.

Alfonso Ribeiro - Dance Baby

Bet you didn't know Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air came out with this Michael Jackson inspired sh*t!!

Maze featuring Frankie Beverly - Joy and Pain

I love this song. Did you know that Maze got their name from Marvin Gaye while on tour with him!!

Original Soundtrack to St. Elmo's Fire

I used to love mixing the Planet Rock bonus beats to the love theme from St. Elmo's fire.

Vanessa Williams - Dreaming

Before there was Halle there was Vanessa!!! She was bad one in her day. I still would smash!!

Joyce Fenderella Irby - I'll Be There

Old School slow jam from the lead singer of Klymaxx. I was in the third or fourth grade when this came out. I remember my sister used to play this tape all the time.

Irene Cara - What a Feeling

80's dance song from the Flashdance/Fame era. I wonder what happened to her. She was hot too back then. Maybe she has a twitter or a FB?

Here are a few iPhone photos from the Rock the Bells music festival.

Pictures of Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Nas, and Lauryn Hill. I even took a picture of a picture of the Goddess Sade.

Videos will follow ASAP

5 Shuffle - Volume 5

Its Sunday again so I guess it's time to shuffle my iPod and see what comes on.

First song is...

Donell Jones ft. Left Eye - U Know What's Up

Rest in Peace to Left Eye from TLC. This was the first single off the "Where I Wanna Be" LP. In my opinion, "Where I Wanna Be" is the most slept on R&B album of all time! In my book, it may even be the greatest R&B album ever!!!!

Stevie Wonder - Knocks Me off My Feet

It's funny how this song comes on next and it was covered by Donell Jones. This song is timeless. One of my favorite Stevie songs. "We lay beneath the stars, under a lover's tree that's seen through the eyes of my mind"

Gap Band - Outstanding

Another Soul classic right here. This one gets the oldschool funk parties goin. Charlie Wilson has an incredible voice. "You Blow My Mind, Baby"

De La Soul - Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)

Classic Hip Hop from De La. Off the De La Soul is Dead LP. I remember wanting to put the hook to this on my answering machine as a kid.

Shawty Lo - They Know

I'm not really a big fan of this south sound but this track always slapped to me. Maybe it's the sample, or the catchy hook? "Big Ups, all my haters"

TELL EVERYBODY THAT YOU KNOW.....

This song motivates me to get a move on. It's been almost a year since I last seen you. I might be rambling to myself but this is how I feel. Still bitter...

Kanye West F. Lil Wayne - See You In My Nightmares

[Lil Wayne]
I got the right
To put up a fight
But not quite
Cause you cut off my light
But my sight
Is better tonight
And I might see you in my nightmare
Oh how'd you'd get there
Cause we were once a fairy tale
But this is farewell

[Kanye West]
I got my life
And it's my only one
I got the night
I'm running from the sun
So good night
I made it out the door, door, door, door, door
After tonight
There will be no return
After tonight
I'm taking off on the road
I'm taking off on the road
And letting you know
LETTING YOU KNOW

[Chorus: Kanye West]
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

[Kanye West]
Okay I'm back up on my grind
You do you and I'm just gon' do mine
You do you cause I'm just gon' be fine
Okay I got you out my mind
And the night is young
The drinks is cold
The stars is out
I'm ready to go
You always thought I was always wrong
Well now you know

[Chorus Kanye West]
Tell everybody, EVERYBODY that you know
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

[Lil Wayne]
I got the right
To put up a fight
But not quite
Cause you cut off my light
But my sight
Is better tonight
And I might see you in my nightmare
Oh how'd you'd get there
Cause we were once a fairy tale
But this is farewell

Babygirl I'm finished
I thought we were committed
I thought we were cemented
I really thought we meant it
But now we just repent it
And now we just resent it
The clouds is in my vision
Look how high that I be getting
And it's all because of you
Girl we through
You think your shit don't stank
but you are Mrs. P-U
And I don't see you
With me no more
Now tell everybody THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

[Chorus: Kanye West]
THAT YOU KNOW
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

More #Adele videos from Berkeley Show

I uploaded two more videos from the Adele show at the Berkeley Greek Theater. iPhone quality. Great show I must say!

One and Only

Make you Feel My Love

5 Shuffle - Volume 4

Fourth Edition of the 5 Shuffle...

Maceo and the Macks - Soul Power '74

Funky band playing samples you may recognize from J-Lo song. I love listening to the funky saxophone on this one.

Erykah Badu - Sometimes

Good song to mellow out to. Puff on a blunt or two, blow the smoke in the air, and take yourself away. Sounds like fun!

Teena Marie - I need your lovin'

RIP to the late Teena Marie. Ms. Fire and Desire. This snowflake had soul. She may have had more soul than most sistas!

Amerie - All I Need

Amerie's Touch album was slept on. Pretty sold album. This song contains a sample from Jean Carne's "You are all I Need"

Common - Faithful

Funky Common song off what may arguably be his best album "BE"

Masters of the Universe

He-Man - Masters of the Universe

This was one of my favorite cartoons growing up in the 80's. This LP was actually from my personal collection as a kid. I think this was my very first record...that I know of. Thought I would share..

#Adele #Adele #Adele

Last night I had the honor of witnessing Adele's magnificent voice live on stage at the Berkeley Greek Theater. This was a long time coming for me. For those of you who know me, know that I've been raving about this album since it came out in the UK. Long before its stateside release. I love music and when I hear talent, I know it! She brought it back to the music. No flashing lights and no fireworks! Just raw talent! Brings me back to the time before the "video killed the radio star". Almost every track tells a story of love lost for which I related instantly. Well anyways, I thought I'd share this with everyone. A couple pictures from the Show and a video that I recorded from my iPhone. The song is "Take it All" which tells my story word for word! "So go on and take it, take it all with you, don't look back at this crumbling fool"

I got 5 on it! Volume 3

Good Morning to you and yours! Now for another iPod shuffle. First song is....

Boyz II Men - Let it Whip

This is a cover of the old school funk band Dazz Band. I'm not a big fan of covers but this one is ok. I totally forgot that I put this album in my iPod. A couple years back Boyz II Men put a whole album out of cover songs. I guess they ran out of their own material.

Norman Conners - Invitation

I love this song. You might recognize it if you've seen that movie Brown Sugar starring Saana Lathan, Taye Diggs, and Mos Def. This song was sampled for Mos Def's song Brown Sugar.

Tech N9ne - Party like a Rockstar

Tech shits on the shop boyz version. Straight up bodies this beat! I never liked the original version of this song.

E-40 - My Shit Bang

Some of that good ol bay area slap right here. No matter how old 40 is he always comes thru....shittin on these youngsters in the rap game.

Aerosmith - Angel

I listen to a little bit of everything. Old school rock and roll ballad. I didnt know this was on my iPod.

Sade - Kiss of Life

This will always be my favorite Sade track. It reminds me of that fresh/brand-new love feeling. If I were to ever get married, the DJ better play this one. I can't wait to see her live in 2 weeks. Ultimate cougar!

Shuffle 5 = Shuffle Fever

2nd edition of shuffle series. Keep in mind that I do not put new music on my iPod. The majority of music I listen to is older.

First song is

Bernard Wright - Haboglabotribin

Everyone recognizes this sample from Snoop's first album. Its funny how a song can sound so funky yet the lyrics are so retarded! This is for the G's

Little Brother - The Honorable

"So all hail the honorable." Love the Rakim cuts for the hook.

Sly Boogy - Fatal Mistake

I used to help promote for Sly Boogy along with Sway's brother T Calloway. It has them dj premier type cuts on the hook. Even a Canibus cut. Classic.

R. Kelly - Love Letter
R Kelly always comes thru. 2 step music

Guns N' Roses - Paradise City

Oooh.! This one takes me back. I remember working construction as an electrician in Napa. The carpenters would have the radio on 107.7 the Bone all day and I would hear this song at least 3 times the whole work-shift. So what do I do after hearing it all day? I put it on my iPod. I was brainwashed!

Cheech y Chong

I was organizing my records last night and I stumbled across my Cheech and Chong Los Cochino's LP. It has a cool looking pull-out cover that reveals dank leaves hidden inside the truck. Me being the #pothead that I am, I felt I should share. Can anyone tell me what a Cochino is???

Analogretirement

Found this on a t shirt for sale @

http://www.bustedtees.com/analogretirement

Its missing the old school telephone.

Shuffle 5 on the iPod

My daughter used to do this on her blog. She would listen to 5 songs on her iPod, shuffle 'em and then blog about 'em. So I decided to take a page out of her blogging book.

First song is...

Boogie Down Productions - Love's Gonna Get You

Early 90's Hip Hop. Maybe Krs One's best storytelling track that paints a vivid picture of the struggle and hustle in the streets.

Mos Def - 24 Hour Karate School

In this track Mos Def keeps it hip hop with the Old School funk breakbeat. "Rap Bruce Leroy"

Human League - Don't You Want Me

Yes, this song is in my iPod. Sometimes you feel the need to listen to this euro new-wave stuff. This song goes well at the cocaine parties! hahaha.

James Brown - The Boss

This song is funky as fu*k. Off one of my favorite soundtracks! James Brown's Black Caesar.

Souls of Mischief - That's When Ya Lost

Coming up as an MC in the early 90's I looked up to the Hieroglyphics Crew. In the bay area we were flooded with local mob artists such as Too Short, E40, Mac Dre etc. It was a breath of fresh air to have a hip hop crew like Souls of Mischeif to come from the same hood as these other rappers. Hiero yall!!!

Thats it for my first edition of shuffle 5. I guess ill try to do this every sunday maybe!?

Records for a buck!!!

This morning was my first time digging for records in more than 5 years! I forgot how it felt to find good music for a buck. I decided to hit up the Concord flea market this morning with DJ's Jus Jones and Celskiii. For spending only about 12 dollars I feel I came out with some good finds! What may be junk to you is considered a treasure to me. I Love Music!!!

You never know what you'll run into at the local swap meet

Here are a few cool things I ran into...

Sunset Painting of the Bay Bridge

Jingle Juggs? Not sure what these do. They probably play Christmas songs!?!?

I Wayne - Living in Love

Reggae joint before heading to Club 6. 8 Year anniversary party. Cheers and light your spliffs up!!

Melanie Fiona! Oh, how I love thee!

Like I Love You by Melanie Fiona. This my one!!!

I'm sorry. This song shit's on "Man Down"

I need a girl to sing this song to me PRONTO

Nina Skye - Curtain Call

Old song but I still play this in the iPod.
